Cunanax subradiata (Tate, 1889)

Description: Shell small. Prodissoconch with 1 or several commarginal ribs and sharp rim. Shape slightly extended anteriorly, umbo located behind midline; anterior and posterior dorsal margins straight or weakly concave. Lunule and escutcheon short, narrow, smooth. Exterior sculpture of irregular commarginal growth lines and 12-16 broad, low radial ribs. Interior smooth, with strongly dentate margin. Hinge strong. Ligament internal. Shell opaque white.

Size: Up to 4.4 mm length.

Distribution: From Euston Reef, Qld, southwards and around southern Australia, to Dongara, WA, including Tas.

Habitat: From beach washup and down to 219 m.

Comparison: Similar to Cunanax pisum but has a wider distribution around southern Australia. The radial ribs are present over the whole surface, but restricted to the ventral margin in C. pisum.

Synonymy: Previously recognised synonyms are Condylocardia porrecta Hedley, 1906 from Masthead Island, Radiocondyla ampla Laseron, 1953 from Sydney, and Radiocondyla rotunda Laseron, 1953 from off Crookhaven, NSW
