Ervilia bisculpta A.A. Gould, 1861

Description: Shape elongate-ovate, both ends rounded. Umbo on midline. Exterior polished, with weak irregular commarginal growth ridges. Radial riblets at posterior quarter and anterior tenth. Interior with muscle scars and pallial line usually indistinct; pallial sinus reaching midline; lower limb of pallial sinus confluent with posterior end of pallial line. Hinge with narrow low cardinal tooth in left valve and strong prominent cardinal in right valve. Laterals in both valves. Ligament in 2 parts; dorsal part exterior, ventral part attached in triangular pit in front of cardinal tooth. Shell colour white.

Size: Up to 7 mm in length.

Distribution: Indo-West Pacific, from East Africa to Hawaii. In Australia, from southwestern WA, around northern Australia to Sydney, NSW.

Habitat: Beach washup and dredged down to 50 m.

Synonymy: Ervilia australis Angas, 1877 and Ervilia japonica A. Adams, 1862 are synonyms.
