Ponderia abies Houart, 1986

Description: Spire moderately low, sutures impressed. Three varices per whorl, each with a long, flat, closed spine at the shoulder with a flange bearing three spinelets below. Axial or spiral sculpture absent. Aperture roundly ovate with peristome entire, smooth internally, produced beyond columella. Siphonal canal long and hollow, sealed for two-thirds of its length. Colour mottled white and light brown, small spinelets and siphonal canal mainly glossy white.

Size: Holotype 20 mm in length.

Distribution: Known only from the Taupo Seamount, 400 km east of Newcastle, NSW.

Habitat: Taken in 154-164 m. Known only from holotype.
