Synthopsis cancellata (Laseron, 1951)

Description (based solely on holotype): Shell medium in size for family, initially narrowly conical, becoming cylindrical from 7th whorl. Protoconch broken, only 2 whorls remaining. Teleoconch of 9 slightly convex whorls; suture distinct within deep groove. Whorls sculptured with 3 spiral cords with interspaces greater than width of cords. Spiral cords crossed by axial ribs, forming more or less circular small beads at intersections; about 26 axials on last whorl. Last whorl with spiral 4 starting at top of aperture; base smooth, concave. Outer lip of aperture thin. Anterior canal a deep U-shaped notch. Shell colour pale fawn.

Size: Holotype length 4.9 mm (Not 5.5 mm as stated by Laseron).

Distribution: Holotype locality: Port Stephens, NSW, in shell sand. No other specimens available.

Habitat: Unknown.
