Cuna saza (Laseron, 1953)

Description: Shell minute. Prodissoconch small, dome-shaped, rim thickened. Shape umbo on midline, anterodorsal and posterodorsal margins straight or weakly convex. Escutcheon wide, lunule narrower. Exterior sculpture of 20-23 radial ribs, crossed by growth lines. Interior smooth apart from muscle scars, margin with 20-23 denticles. Hinge strong. Ligament internal. Shell translucent to opaque white.

Size: Up to 2.2 mm in length.

Distribution: Seal Rocks, NSW, southwards to Mallacoota, eastern Vic.

Habitat: Known from beach washup and down to 27 m depth. The AMS collection holds 32 lots, indicating this species is moderately common.

Comparison: This species is characterised by the relatively numerous radial ribs.
